After being given the book Death of a Nobody by Georges Simenon, my task was to transmediate an aspect of the story into a new medium. I chose to focus on one of the most significant elements of the protagonist’s story: his secret, the winning lottery ticket. I wanted to explore how this object could be visually represented while still reflecting the themes and atmosphere of the novel. Every element of the design, from the typeface and colour palette to the layout and details of the scratch card itself, was carefully considered and created to reflect the historical period in which the novel is set. Through these choices, I aimed to make the lottery ticket feel authentic to the time period while also highlighting its importance within the story and the role it plays in revealing the protagonist’s secret.
